Hello, Mr. Apocalypsis!

THE ARRIVAL OF HALLEY?S COMET, NOSTRADAMUS, THE PROPHECIES of the end of the millennium, the fearful ‘2000 effect’ and now, the Mayan apocalypse. It seems highly unlikely that this pre-Colombian culture should establish in its calendar such a sinister destiny, and the experts consulted -archaeo-astronomers, pre-Hispanic intellectuals-, agree with that. So, what the hell’s going on If the conspiranoiac interpretations were to be proved right, what would we do at Babylon if everything went to the wall? Well, what we know best, magazines. We couldn’t contemplate the possible end of our days with our arms crossed, so we got down to work.
We envisage a more global publication, one that will bring the Hispanic world closer from a different perspective; a new editorial line in which the parallel bilingual translation will still stand out. New sections, in depth reports, slow reading and independent information as signs of its identity, the top names, emerging talents, and a network of contributors committed to the cause on both sides of the Atlantic as our dance partners. That’s our bet for the end of the world.
With a common language, but with thousands of accents, we want the renovated Hispanic culture to keep reaching out to all corners of the planet. A new model supported by its distribution will allow us to be present for free at our traditional collection points and, thanks to the new mixed form of payment, at new locations as well. In this circuit of news conglomerates, mergers and all types of economic adjustments in the media, maintaining our independence obliges us to cover our bets. We are on to it. Our sole objective is that you, our readers, wherever you are, can keep enjoying the only international magazine about Hispanic culture written in two of the most widely spoken languages in the world. And if the Apocalypse should happen, it won’t be able to take away from us what we have done.
